WAEC releases withheld results of 13 states

West African Examination Council, (WAEC) has released withheld results of  candidates who sat for this year’s May/June West African Secondary Certificate Examination, (WASSCE).
The results were withheld by the examination body due to debts owed by 13 state governments.

Buhari, Abdusalami’s committee meet in Aso Rock

President Muhammadu Buhari on Tuesday met with members of the National Peace Committee for the 2015 General Election headed by former Head of State, Gen. Abdusalami Abubakar (rtd).
Buhari and former President Goodluck Jonathan signed a peace agreement ahead of the March 28 presidential election at the instance of the committee. 

Australia: 91 year-old man arrested for smuggling cocaine

A 91-year-old Sydney man was used by drug smugglers to fly 4.5 kilograms of cocaine disguised as soap from India to Australia, police said Tuesday.
The man was stopped at Sydney airport on his arrival from New Delhi on July 8th when customs officers became suspicious of the contents of his luggage, officials said.                                                      

Policeman dismissed for ‘killing’ two women in Edo

A police corporal identified as Ali Christopher has been dismissed from active service for accidentally killing two nursing mothers at a funeral in Fugar town, administrative headquarters of Etsako Central local government area of Edo State.
Ali was dismissed after he was found culpable in an orderly room trial conducted by the state police command.

Former President Olusegun Obasanjo has said he remains a ‘party-less Nigerian’ and will continue to be a statesman.
He said this on Monday at his Abeokuta Hilltop residence when a delegation from Kogi State, led by the state Governor, Captain Idris Wada (retd.), paid him a courtesy call, Punch gathered.

No age limitation in Sexual Offences Act, says senator

A former Chairman of the Senate Committee on Judiciary, Human Rights and Legal Matters, Sen. Umar Dahiru, has said the Sexual Offences Act was meant to protect the rights of all sexes.
Dahiru, a member of the seventh National Assembly, made the clarification in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Abuja yesterday.
He said the committee did everything to review the bill properly before its passage.                           

Looted funds must be returned, Buhari tells Jonathan

Forrmer Head of State Gen. Abdulsalami Abubakar on Thursday stood as a facilitator for President Muhammadu Buhari’s meeting with his predecessor, Dr. Goodluck Jonathan. 
Thursday night’s meeting at the Villa was at the instance of the 2015 Elections Peace Committee, following complaints by Jonathan that the President was not sticking to the peace accord they signed.

My life in danger, Kogi female aspirant alleges

A female gubernatorial aspirant in Kogi state under the flagship of All Progressive Congress (APC), Hajia Hadiza Ibrahim has decried an alleged threat to her life from an unknown person in the party.
While speaking with journalists in Ibadan, Hajia Hadiza, the owner of Hadiza motors said she received a text message recently threatening her to dump her ambition or suffer the consequences.
