President Obama's account hits hundreds of thousands minutes after debuting on Twitter

Incredible! This is how some social media influencers and analysts have described the phenomenal listing of President Barack Obama’s personal Twitter account on Monday.
The President inaugurated the account with an iconic message, “Hello, Twitter! It’s Barack. Really! Six years in, they’re finally giving me my own account.”
Instantly, the tweet went viral, attracting a horde of followers to the Twitter handle — @potus. In about 24 minutes after the message hit the site, 100,000 subscribers hooked up with Obama, who had earlier followed 65 accounts of his cabinet members and key US institutions.
Minute-by-minute, followers have continued to click on the famous account. As of noon on Tuesday when the account was barely 20-hour old, it had recorded 1.7 million followers.
That translates to 85,000 followers per hour or approximately 24 followers per second... and that's why he is the President of presidents!
